The Lamborghini Urus model was stopped by the police: what happened?

The upcoming 2025 Lamborghini Urus is getting ready to hit the market with its new PHEV hybrid configuration. During a recent test, however, near the Nurburgring circuit in Germany, local police stopped one of the models for, apparently, the absence of a front license plate, which is illegal in Germany.

According to what was reported by the spy photographers of his colleagues Carscoops, the Urus on test took part in some tests on the Nordschleife Industry Pool. When the test driver and accompanying engineer returned to the Lamborghini workshop, a police car he invited them to stand on the side of the road. The images show two police officers approaching the Urus and interacting with the occupants.

The source claims that the police stopped the Urus for a reason it only had an Italian license plate on the back. Although this practice is allowed (on trial models) in other countries, including Italy, the German police are known for their strictness in this matter. However, the short stop allowed photographers to get close to the car.

Lamborghini has yet to reveal the specifications of the new 2025 Urus, limiting itself to confirming the plug-in hybrid’s drive. The configuration is expected to “borrow” the electric platform from Porsche Cayenne Turbo E Hybrid.

It is no coincidence that the Cayenne hybrid is related to this new generation of Urus, as it is confusing V8 biturbo and a single electric motor and a 25.9 kWh battery pack, producing a combined output of 729 hp and 949 Nm of torque. It’s not yet clear if the Urus will make more power than the Cayenne, but we know for sure that the powertrain is the same.
