For a long time, the Grand Cherokee represented the highest level of luxury and sophistication in the Brazilian Jeep portfolio. However, the model was not reintroduced for a few years and Commander took over. Now, the Grand Cherokee will return and one of its properties will be a plug-in hybrid engine. This will be the company’s second electric car in the country, which last year launched the Compass with this technology. Under the hood, the 4xe uses a 2-liter turbocharged engine (274 hp), and a 48-volt belt-driven generator system for quick, smooth restarts. Instead of an eight-speed torque converter is an electric motor, which produces 134 hp and 25 kgfm of torque. In total, there is 375 hp of power and 65 kgfm of torque. Apart from the new inspiration, this new generation Grand Cherokee stands out for its onboard technology and improved finish.
I tested the Summit Reserve version of the Jeep SUV in the US and the vehicle was amazing. In addition to the high quality of materials, better than those offered in Compass and Commander, the board screens attract attention. For the instrument panel, a 10.25-inch display, another screen for the multimedia center and one more for the front passenger. The passenger side screen includes polarizing filters that make it invisible from the driver’s side. This way, the passenger can even play video games – and use wireless headphones – without disturbing the driver. Offers and prices for the Brazilian market will be announced in the coming weeks. Until then, check out the video evaluation available on the CORREIO website and app.
