Investing.com – UK equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), Real Estate and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.

At the end of London, the Investing.com UK 100 added 0.29%.

Among the components of the Investing.com UK 100 index, the best performers were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 2.98% or 15.20 points to trade at 526.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 2.65% or 18.60 points to 719.40 and 3I Group PLC (LON:III) was up 2.60% or 47 .50 points, closing the session at 1.00.

The company was worse The Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which declined 2.36% or 10.40 points to trade at 431.00 at the close. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) declined 2.16% or 3.20 points to end at 145.10 and DCC plc (LON:DCC) was down 1.38% or 65.00 points, closing at 4.00.

The total number of gainers exceeded the number of losers listed on the London Stock Exchange by 959 to 786, with 500 ending the session unchanged.

Shares in 3I Group PLC (LON:III) rose to a new high, rising 2.60% or 47.50 to 1.00.

Gold futures for June delivery rose 0.14% or 2.75 to $2.00 an ounce. Elsewhere in commodities, WTI crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.88% or 1.32 to reach $71.36 a barrel, while Brent oil for delivery in July gained 1.71% or 1.27 to break the level of $75.44 a barrel.

GBP/USD was up 0.60% at 1.25, while EUR/GBP was unchanged 0.31% at 0.87.

Futures on the US Dollar Index were down 0.26% at 102.24.
