As of now, Tesla Model Y is still the most popular electric car in Europe. A confirm is CleanTechnica, a portal dedicated to precision journalism about the electronic transition. Also on the podium of the best-selling electric cars in February 2024 are other Tesla best sellers, the Model 3, and the Peugeot e-208, which is starting to produce good numbers in the Old Continent.

Before looking at the rankings, the portal shows how the electric car reached a share of 12% of all sales in Europe in February. In addition to this, 7% recorded by the plug-in combination, it follows that almost one in five cars sold in February was a battery-powered car.

There were 106,187 electric vehicles sold in February 2024, up 9% compared to the same period last year. Growth was slowed by negative data recorded by the most important car market in Europe, that of Germany (-15.4%). On the other hand, good data from Belgium (+66.4%), France (+31.8%) and the Netherlands (+20.9%).

The Tesla Model Y sells for more than twice the second place, which also comes from Tesla

As mentioned, the Tesla Model Y is always the most chosen: in February 2024, 19,946 Tesla electric crossovers were sold, more than twice compared to the Tesla Model 3, in second place, which recorded 8,120 new registrations.

In third place was the Peugeot e-208, which returns to grinding good numbers after overcoming some problems related to delivery times. In February 2024, 5,319 units were sold for the compact five-door with a sharp design.

Scrolling through the list, immediately behind the top positions is the MG 4, just a whisker away from 5,000 units sold. The figures for the Audi Q4 e-Tron are also good (3,914 units). For the first time, the Volvo EX30 enters the Top 10, with 3,675 units sold. The FIAT 500e, however, is far from overand less than 3,000 units sold.

Tesla is the brand that sells the most electric cars, but the Volkswagen and Stellantis groups do better overall.

Looking at the ranking, it is clear that Tesla remains the brand that sold the most electric cars in Europe in February. Second place to BMW, the only manufacturer along with Tesla to boast a share of more than 10% in electric vehicle sales. Followed by Mercedes, Volvo and Audi.

However, everything changes if we look at car groups as a whole. In this case, the Volkswagen group takes the first place, with 19.5% of the entire segment of electric vehicles sold. The Stellantis Group also outperforms Tesla, taking second place. Rounding out the position, Tesla as mentioned in third place, BMW Group in fourth place and Geely in fifth place, thanks to better data from Volvo.
