The Volkswagen T-Cross has been updated

There is an SUV-like alternative to almost every ‘regular’ car. For Polo this is T-Cross. Subtly updated. We take a look at the price list to see what the new Volkswagen T-Cross has to offer.

Volkswagen T-Cross is a segment B SUV based on the technical basis of the Polo. Or: Polo, among others. Volkswagen Taigo, Audi A1, SEAT Arona, Skoda Kamiq and some models not presented in Europe are also on this platform. To update the T-Cross, the model recently got a minor facelift. Let’s see what T-Cross has to offer now.

Volkswagen T-Cross engines

On a technical level, the changes are not significant. The range includes the familiar 1.0 TSI and 1.5 TSI. The first is optionally available with 70 kW (95 hp) or 85 kW (115 hp) and the 1.5 always with 110 kW (150 hp). The entry-level model always has a five-speed manual transmission, the 115 hp version has a six-speed as standard or an optional seven-speed automatic transmission. The 150 hp version always has a seven-speed automatic transmission. Volkswagen T-Cross always has front-wheel drive.

Price Volkswagen T-Cross

The Volkswagen T-Cross wasn’t necessarily the cheapest in the segment and that remains the case. The new model can be ordered from 29,990 euros, thanks to at least more than 6,000 euros per bpm. For the 115 hp variant you will spend 33,990 euros, or 35,990 euros with automatic transmission. For the most powerful engine variant you pay at least 43,390 euros, because the BPM amount of the model rises to more than 8,000 euros. In addition, a more powerful engine is also associated with more complete equipment levels.

Accessories for Volkswagen T-Cross

The updated Volkswagen T-Cross is available as a no-name entry-level model (with only a slightly more powerful engine), as a Lifestyle Edition, as an R-Line and as an R-Line Business. Some highlights from standard equipment: 16-inch steel wheels with hubcaps, LED lights, heated exterior mirrors, fabric upholstery. 20.3 cm digital instruments, 16.5 cm central display, smartphone connectivity, manual air conditioning, cruise control and basic assistance and safety systems. Therefore, a slightly higher starting price is made up of standard equipment.

With the Life Edition you get 17-inch alloys, tinted rear windows, keyless entry and start, leather-wrapped steering wheel, wider infotainment with a 20.3 cm large screen, wireless smartphone connectivity, cruise control and reversing camera. The R-Line offers a sportier design, sport seats and automatic air conditioning. The R-Line business completes it with, among other things, LED Matrix ID.Light headlights, integrated navigation, wireless smartphone charger, 26 cm cockpit and front seat heating.

This time our choice is the Volkswagen T-Cross Life Edition with a 115 hp engine and a manual gearbox. Then you have a little more in terms of equipment and power than the base model, without the price increase too much.

Exterior decoration

Interestingly, the Life Edition is the only version where metallic body colors do not cost extra. With other models, even the R-Line Business, you will pay 290 to 590 euros more for one of the metallic colors. Grape Yellow is the standard color for all models. For Life Edition, gray is chosen as standard, but we can bring more colors to life at no extra cost. In addition to some gray, black and white tones, the updated T-Cross offers the aforementioned yellow, gray blue and red. The latter will be our choice.

In addition, we can exchange standard wheels for 17-inch wheels with a different design at no additional cost. We do. It looks better and more elegant.

Interior decoration

There is no choice in the interior: it remains with black fabric upholstery. In addition, each level of equipment has fabric upholstery. There is nothing wrong with that. The textured gray surfaces ensure that it doesn’t look boring.

Packages and personal options

On individual options and packages, first for the interior. For 390 euros we can replace the standard digital instruments with a version with a bigger screen. For 690 euros, the Multimedia package offers integrated navigation, wireless smartphone integration and onboard internet connectivity. The Plus variant of this package costs 1,890 euros and adds volume control and a Beats sound system. This includes a space saver wheel and a jack and screwdriver.

The other packages are the Comfort package (290 euros) and the Design package (1,290 euros) offering heated seats, a reversing camera and the Design package and starting to offer the most advanced services of IQ.Light digital instruments.

A spare wheel costs 90 euros separately. Other different options: for 340 euros we can add climate directly. The towbar costs an additional 790 euros. For 290 euros you get front and rear parking sensors and you pay the same amount for an anti-theft alarm. Strange: ordering the parking sensors ‘separately’ costs the same as the Comfort package, which includes those sensors as well as a few other items.

Out of all these, we only choose the ‘standard’ Multimedia package and the Comfort package.

Below the line, the price of the Volkswagen T-Cross we put together amounts to 34,970 euros. As mentioned, it is not a price winner. On the other hand, you get a complete car and unfortunately these prices in the B segment are very common these days. If you look at it that way, it’s not expensive at all.
