The next hypercar will have a hybrid V16 and will be revealed in June

Now it’s official: we have the first date of the next hypercar designed by Bugatti. Well, this is still an approximate date, but it is already something. The new model, which is coming to replace the Chiron, will be presented next June. Few details of this have been revealed, few but good.

Well, very good, but let’s go step by step. The historic French brand had already announced that the successor to the Chiron will be launched in mid-2024, and therefore at least in these terms. expectations were met, or at least they will be. But there are other details to talk about, perhaps even more important.

Big doubts about this new car all focused on the new engine, and some even feared that green would take Bugatti. Well, Mate Rimac, CEO of Rimac Automobili, took it upon himself to quell these fears, revealing that he had to fight hard keeping the warm spirit of the hypercar alive, and that the brand has developed a completely new combustion engine. This, however, will also be connected to a green generator, thus giving life to a hybrid system that seems to promise great things.

A heat engine, however, 16 cylinders remain; it only makes a difference, at least for now its arrangement, now V-shaped instead of W. The heart of the Chiron successor is also shown in a short teaser that the company posted on YouTube. In the picture we can see the engine rotating, revealing some details with the light, including the writing “16.4”, which indicates the number of cylinders and turbocharger.

There is also information about the design of the body of the car, which is still a secret. In fact, the upcoming hypercar will be the last Bugatti creation by legendary designer Achim Anscheidt, who gave way to Frank Heyl after 19 years as the brand’s head of design. So, this is already shaping up to be a case historical example for Bugatti (the Bugatti Bolide has the biggest Brembo disc brakes of all time).
