DIY Hero Who Turned Acura NSX Into Trailer Dies in S2000 Crash

NBC Connecticut reports that Cutler was driving on I-91 South in Wallingford when he hit the guard rail near exit 13. After going off the road and down an embankment, he was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital where he died. He was only 41 years old.

Although I never met Cutler in person, several of my colleagues at Northeastern did. He was a fixture at grassroots events, like Day 7 in NYC where our Social Media Editor Maddox Kay spoke to him for the first time in 2022. Aaron Segal, product manager at SaveThe parent company also met Cutler and his dog Cassius several times at car shows around the area. Both have nothing but great things to say about him, not only for his obvious intelligence but also for his kindness.

“He was an absolute gem of a human being,” Segal tells me. “He loved the community and loved sharing his design with everyone.”

“His ultimate goal was to run all 48 states in the program with his dog,” Segal recalls.

Tributes and condolences have poured into the comments section of Cutler’s Instagram, where he passed @nsxtra. The account has nearly 75,000 followers who love to see his daring projects, as well as the beautiful art they inspire.

This isn’t the type of post we normally run here on the site, but we want to remember Cutler and highlight what he did in the automotive community. We are thinking and praying for his family, friends, and all the people he reached with his passion. It’s never easy, especially with someone as consistent as Chris.

Update at 9:45 am ET on 04/04/2024: Close friends have set up a GoFundMe to help Cutler’s mother pay for funeral expenses. If you are ready and able to donate, please click here.
