Why this Dodge muscle car is available in the Netherlands

A month ago we wrote for the first time about Ford Mustang prices in the Netherlands. Thanks to BPM, the muscle car has a starting price of around 132,000 euros. Its competitor, the Dodge Charger, is expected to be cheaper.

The new Dodge Charger is available with a full electric powertrain. Although a six-cylinder version is also being built.

A muscle car

To call a Ford Mustang with a V8 in the same breath as a full-electric Dodge Charger is completely unfair. Not quite because Ford also has an electric version of the Mustang, the Mach-E. At least the name is right. In fact, the two cars have nothing to do with each other.

That’s not the case with Dodge. The car is on the big STLA platform, which is suitable for both petrol engines and electric power. The design screams muscle car, unlike the Mach-e.

That’s where the whining ends, because the 3.0-liter straight-six will make a lot less noise than the roaring V8, in part due to the twin turbos. Depending on the version, the V6 delivers 558 or 425 hp.

Dutch Electric Dodge Charger

An electric powertrain would also make the Dodge Charger attractive in the Netherlands. However, it is still unknown if the muscle car will come to our country. Autovisie is still waiting for a response from Dodge. Of course, you can always enter it yourself.

The Dodge Charger is named Daytona and is available as an R/T with 503 hp and as a Scat Pack with 680 hp. The top electric model runs from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.3 seconds.

The Charger’s electric power comes from two electric motors, one at the front and one at the rear axle. The petrol version also has four-wheel drive. However, you can ski with a muscle car. It has special drift and donut driving modes.

The electric motors are connected to a battery pack with a capacity of 100.5 kWh. This allows you to drive 510 km with the R/T and 420 km with the Scat Pack. The range is measured according to the strict American method of measurement. According to the WLTP test method, cars will definitely go further.
