The Cupra Terramar is nearing its debut. This is the last such example

I saw the Terramar model live for the first time in June 2022, during the conference where Cupra announced as seven new models. Although “I saw it live” may be an exaggeration, because the car was only visible on the stage for a while and it was not possible to look at it closely.

Despite the appearance of the Cupra Terramar, it was no longer a secret, as was the fact that all models of the manufacturer would receive a completely new style with headlights with triangular daytime running lights. Representatives of the Spanish brand then announced that the new SUV would appear in 2024.

2024 is already here and Cupra representatives are revealing more details. We know that the first prototype will take place in the second half of the year and it has been confirmed that the car is approximately 4.5 m long. So he will be the direct successor of Ateca.

The latest news is which engines will be placed under the hood of the Terramar. The manufacturer talks about 4-cylinder units with a capacity of 1.5 and 2.0, as well as a plug-in hybrid and a 19.7 kWh battery. An automatic transmission will be offered as standard, while all-wheel drive will be available on select versions.

All this clearly shows that the Cupra Terramar will be a technological twin The new Volkswagen Tiguanso you can expect it to receive the same engine, namely:

  • 1.5 eTSI – 130 KM
  • 1.5 eTSI – 150 KM
  • 2.0 TSI 4Drive – 204 KM
  • 2.0 TSI 4Drive – 265 KM
  • 2.0 TDI – 150 KM
  • 2.0 TDI 4Drive – 193 KM
  • eHybrid – 204 KM
  • eHybrid – 272 KM

Considering that Cupra is positioned as a brand that offers sports cars (this was the original idea behind its creation), I bet that among the above engines we will not see the basic, 130-horsepower only version. What is certain is that hybrids will be able to travel about 100 kilometers on a single charge.

The last important piece of information about the Terramar is that it is the last Cupra combustion model. We will also see the modern Leon and Formentor (along with the Born, they will be refreshed “by 2025”), but all new models and generations will be electric cars only.

The first of such novelties will debut in the second half of 2024 and will be a coupe-style SUV, i.e. Tavascan. Next year, the Cupra Raval, a segment B hatchback, will appear.
