This is the new Toyota Tacoma

Toyota is pulling back the curtain on the all-new generation Tacoma, a medium size an image that the brand creates, creates and sells in the United States. It is the fourth generation Tacoma and the car will (initially) only be available with four-cylinder engines, as well as hybrids.

The Toyota Tacoma is owned by Toyota in the United States medium size Pickup, placed above the Hilux – which we also know here – and below the Tundra. The Tacoma is now in its fourth generation. The outgoing model hit the market in 2015 and has therefore lasted eight years, which is short for a Tacoma. Yet Toyota is now coming up with something new, and brand new.

The new Tacoma is on the TNGA-F global truck platform from Toyota and shares that with big brother Tundra and full-size SUV Sequoia. In the nose of the Tacoma, the Japanese – or the Americans – always rely on a large 2.4-liter four-cylinder with a turbo. Connected to an automatic transmission, it is good for 228 or 278 hp, where the block always produces 270 hp with a manual gearbox. Apart from the ‘regular’ turbo engines, there will also be a hybrid variant. That version offers up to 326 horsepower (US).

From the outside, the new Tacoma shows a strong resemblance to the electric concept pickup that Toyota showed in 2021, but we dare to question the arrival of an electric variant of this generation of Tacoma. The exterior is available in all kinds of tastes, because Toyota offers the car in different configurations (two doors or four doors, short or long cargo area) and with different decorations.

Lots to choose from

There will be, among other things, the ‘normal’ variant, the TRD Off Road worthy off-road, the extra sporty TRD Sport and the so-called ‘Trailhunter’, a variant that also stands on the ground and combines. having a look that is even worse than that of the TRD Off Road. All variants – about seven in total – not only have a different appearance, but also have their own suspensions. For example, the Trailhunter gets different shock absorbers than the Limited, which has different shock absorbers than the TRD Sport, just to name a few. Tire size and ride height also vary, which can be clearly seen in the image below. Which version would you like?
