This is my new electric car for the summer

Agree, the headline is a bit exaggerated because Polestar 2 is not my new car, but it is my first long-term test in everyday life. Now I can look at an electric car for three months, which has a good reason.

In the coming weeks, changing every two weeks would be annoying and I wanted to dive deeper into the issue. This was frequently requested, as two weeks is the limit for a long test. It’s hard to believe that some people post a test after a driving incident.

But that’s a different topic, today is about Polestar 2. Why this electric car? Because I prefer sedans, because I like design, because I appreciate good software and I prefer performance, of which there is a lot here.

Important information about my Polestar 2

It might not be the only long-term electric car test this year, because we have a purchase decision coming up in the foreseeable future and I’d like to see for myself which electric car has the best package.

I have tested the Polestar 2 here several times and now I have driven many versions and colors. This would be the best version of an electric car for me, although I prefer black, but test cars are never black.

For this long-term test, I chose seven topics, including things like software, assistance systems, but also electronic capabilities in general and how good the car is as an electric car and not just a car. A conclusion also follows.

There is a lot to come this time, I will drive short distances, I will not be driving alone and I would like to increase the feeling, soon I will travel with more people and also walk.

Charging at home is still not an option, but that will change soon. That will definitely be an issue. So there’s a lot planned and I’m sure an idea or two will come to me in the next three months. My version:

  • Polestar 2 Performance
  • 350 kW / 476 PS and 740 Nm
  • 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds
  • Distance 555-568 km (WLTP).
  • Capacity 82 kWh (400 volts)
  • 205 kW Ladeleistung (DC)
  • 11 kW Ladeleistung (AC)
  • Outside in white (snow)
  • Trial and Plus package
  • Android Automotive als OS

So that puts us at around 70,000 euros, you can’t get a better Polestar 2. And yes, the long-range version with one car is quite enough and will be a “sensible” choice, and the range even reaches 600 km.

But this was not a wise decision and I had a choice: maybe common sense would prevail if I bought it, since I don’t need such a thing and the HP 300 is a lot of fun. Oh, and of course my opinion remains completely free.

I’ve been thinking about something like this for a while and Polestar was my preferred partner for the first test, so I went to them in this case. They accepted the contents, but there was no requirement for it.

So, now I’m happy to see how the test will be, because the problem I wrote here in January has gotten worse. But I have to go through with that for a few weeks, so that will be a topic here again.
