In February of this year, Dodge presented the new Ram 1500 REV, a fully electric pickup. Before this car offsets CO2, we look at what the Ram 1500 uses.

The Ram 1500 is not delivered in the Netherlands. There are still RAM dealers who import cars.

For this example we choose a 2023 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.7-liter V8 that was brought to the Netherlands as a new car. According to the factory, the average consumption is 12.8 liters of petrol per 100 km. This means that the car uses an average of 1 liter per 7.81 km.

That is not very economical. So many buyers opt for an LPG tank in their Ram. After all, LPG is much cheaper than petrol. However, oil also has disadvantages. Consumption is rising.

LPG consumption is about 15 percent more than gasoline. Dodge Ram 1500 uses LPG not 12.8 liters per 100 kilometers, but about 14.72 liters. This means you run about 1 in 6.8 with a Ram 1500 on LPG. At least if you meet the factory specifications. If you let the V8 growl too often, you will drive more uneconomically.

For LPG you pay about one euro per liter. Euro95 costs 2.3 euros per liter. For a price that is more than twice as high, you will quickly pay back the LPG installation in the Dodge Ram 1500.

The car in the example

The car we used as an example in this article is sold under 66. The Ram 1500 is new and sold by a Dodge dealer.
