Subaru is offering 500 special Japanese models of the WRX S4 STI

The Subaru brand has fans all over the world. And the Japanese know how to keep them happy. At the Tokyo Motor Show between January 12 and 28, 2024, they are offering an exclusive premium for a total of 500 copies of the WRX S4 STI Sport – a special Japanese model with 275 hp and a bold look.

STI in the second generation WRX

Although the second generation (from 2021) of the Subaru WRX is no longer produced in Europe, mainly due to strict production regulations, the compact sports sedan still has many fans in this country. Perhaps that excitement comes mainly from previous Impreza generations and their sporty flagships, STDs. The new model, on the other hand, is already equipped with a 275 hp turbo boxer.

Since then, STDs have only been used as a tool in Japan. However, the appearance of the current special model with lower suspension, 19-inch BBS wheels with Super Black finish and Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires and a four-pipe exhaust system is not inferior to its predecessors.

A special model with a lot of leather in the interior

Each of the 500 models has a modified interior. The most important changes: genuine leather steering wheel with silver stitching, shifting gaiters with silver stitching and new Recaro seats in front, which are covered in ultra suede and also have the same differential. The same suede material is spread over the part of the instrument panel, the armrests and the center console.

On the outside, however, black accents dominate, such as a black front grille, black logos or a black lip spoiler on the trunk lid. Subaru also painted the exterior mirrors and roof antenna in Crystal Black Silica. Of course, none of this comes for free. Even the base TR model costs 6,237,000 yen (equivalent to less than 40,000 euros). But STD models have never been cheap anyway.

Yes, to me that is where increased value and happiness meet. No, that would be too insecure of me.

In Japan, Subaru is offering a premium for 500 copies of the WRX S4 limited edition. This follows in the footsteps of the famous rally lineage and continues to rely on the turbo boxer engine, all-wheel drive and very sporty looks. WRX models are no longer offered in this country due to emissions regulations.
