It has now been two years since Thomas Laurent took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. When he was called up at the last minute by IDEC Sport in 2021, he was one of the victims of his horse’s package guarantee. Last year, the Mühlner Motorsport team that he defended his interest in the ELMS was unfortunately not at the start either.
But surprise, we should not find him behind the wheel during the edition of the century. But in addition to working as a series consultant for The L’Equipe, the 25-year-old Vendéen will serve as a reserve driver for the Glickenhaus Race. Therefore, he will have to be ready in case one of the six incumbents loses, something that we obviously do not want. Ready to return to GT and model, the new Thomas Laurent has arrived.
Seeing you at the Glickenhaus Tournament is amazing…
It’s amazing to be a reserve driver with Glickenhaus Racing for Le Mans. I spoke to them a few months ago and they came back to me with this proposal to accompany them as a reserve pilot. Unfortunately, it is not possible for me to be there for the Test Day because of the launch of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe season at Paul Ricard at the same time. My role will be to get to know the team, see their working methods, work and prepare for the future with them. It is also a great opportunity to be a part of the century edition.

A few days ago, you discovered the Audi R8 LMS GT3 in Spa. What is your first impression?
I am surprised to know that I still have to ride to get to know him better. I had been instructed by the team to return the car to its destination in one piece, especially since we were able to witness a lot of off-roading. The work with the team is going very well and the three drivers are helping me move forward. The team and I want to get to know each other better in order to work together for a long time. In recent years, I have changed teams frequently.

With the GT3, we are far from testing the prototype…
This has nothing to do with it. I completed about 200 km on the Audi, which is not enough to discover the car. The feeling is good, the brakes are different from what I have known so far.
Are you ready to discover new horizons?
I easily open myself up to other opportunities without abandoning the model. My goal is obviously to become a professional pilot again. I know that Lamborghini is closely watching the Super Trofeo drivers, so the Italian track should not be excluded.
