A fatal accident occurred on the Ringlaan road in Lichtervelde in Belgium on Saturday. The driver lost control of his Maserati, and the occupants were thrown from the vehicle. Three residents died.

The fatal accident happened at 9.15 in the afternoon on Ringlaan in Lichtervelde near Ghent. The driver left Kortemark in a Maserati and headed for the E403.

The driver suddenly lost control of the steering wheel. The car hit the median barrier and flew into a tree two hundred meters away on the other side of the road. The impact broke the car in half.

Three people inside the car were thrown from the car and killed. These are two Polish brothers, aged 22 and 28, who were guest workers in the construction industry. The driver was probably their 33-year-old Polish patriot and employer, who remained in Meulebeke.

According to the public prosecutor’s office, the cause of the accident was ‘excessive speed’.
