The American union UAW wants to enter Volkswagen in the United States

The United Auto Workers (UAW), the most powerful auto union in the United States, brought down the big three companies General Motors, Ford and Stellantis last year after a violent strike that lasted several weeks. Following his momentum, the UAW is organizing a vote to join Volkswagen.

If the UAW union is able to close the representative antenna among the workers of the Volkswagen manufacturer in the United States, this will be the first since it has never been able to do so with an imported manufacturer except the Americans from the BIG Three (GM, Ford, Stellantis).

The UAW wants to continue after its victories against GM, Stellantis and Ford

Indeed, for years the UAW tried unsuccessfully to organize non-union American auto plants, built mostly by Asian and European manufacturers in southern US states where right-to-work laws make it optional for workers to pay union dues.

5,500 Volkswagen workers in Chattanooga, Tennessee, were scheduled to vote from Wednesday, April 17, through the following Friday to join the United Auto Workers union. This will be the third time in ten years that the UAW has sought to represent VW Chattanooga workers. Getting a vote to unionize the VW plant would be an important step for the UAW.
