The MotoGP year gave fans around the world unforgettable moments. Our colleagues at motogp.com have put together a list of the best races for them:

Portuguese Grand Prix
With his victory at the Portuguese GP in March, Jorge Martin took over the championship lead from Pecco Bagnaia. Another highlight in Portimao was rookie Pedro Acosta, who managed his first podium finish in the second weekend of the MotoGP race.

In addition, there was an incident between Bagnaia and Marc Marquez, who collided with three laps to go. Bagnaia came out empty-handed, his future teammate ended up in 16th place.

American Grand Prix
The opening round of the Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas has already produced plenty of exciting action. Acosta took the lead before engaging in a fierce battle with Martin. Meanwhile, there was a close fight between Marc Marquez and Jack Miller, with the Spaniard losing a fair piece on his GP23 after making contact with Miller’s RC16.

Still, it looked like Marquez could end his long winless streak. His dream was shattered in the closing stages when he crashed at the age of 11. Aprilia rider Maverick Vinales took victory with a remarkable comeback after coming back to 11th on the first lap. This victory allowed Vinales to enter the history books and become the first rider to win with three different manufacturers in the MotoGP era.

Spanish Grand Prix
Marc Marquez started well from pole position in the Jerez Grand Prix. Pecco Bagnaia pulled off an impressive double win on lap 1 when he overtook Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi on the outside at Turn 6.

Martin soon took control of the race before a mistake late in Turn 6 brought him down. Bagnaia and Marc Marquez fought a thrilling battle for victory, with the Italian coming out on top.

French Grand Prix
Doctor France was another highlight of the season. Jorge Martin had a fantastic weekend at Le Mans – he won the Sprint and the Grand Prix, giving him a maximum of 37 points.

Throughout the race, fans saw a close fight between the three world champions – Martin, Bagnaia and Marquez – until the last lap. Martin was able to get ahead of his two rivals, with Marquez passing Bagnaia to take second place after a clever maneuver to overtake them at Turn 9 on the final lap.

Australian Grand Prix
Phillip Island is known for late-stage drama, dramatic comebacks and close battles – 2024 was no different. Marc Marquez initially got off to a poor start and fell back to 13th after the film on his helmet visor landed under the rear wheel of his GP23 causing it to spin.

Martin and Bagnaia led the field, Marquez fought through the field to follow the leading two. The eight-time world champion was incredibly fast and soon returned to the top. With three laps to go, Marquez made a final attack on Martin in Turn 4. The “Martinator” tried to fight back, but in the end it was Marquez who took his third win of the season. Bagnaia took third place.
