Toyota GR Yaris costs almost a ton! And thank you, Tax Authority

Prices of The new Toyota GR Yaris they are known and they deserve to cry. You can get into the current best hatch from 81,795 euros, but those who really want high style on the road will pay no less than 98,295 euros. Oh it hurts!

Let’s first say that Toyota can’t do anything about this. The fact that the GR Yaris is expensive here is all due to the Tax Authority and our damned BPM system. Because look, in Belgium Toyota GR Yaris costs only 48,630 euros.

The Toyota GR Yaris has been redesigned

Unfortunately, the special small homologation has also been too expensive in the Netherlands compared to the car before the update. It was acquired a few years ago for around 60,000 euros. That was the version with a manual gearbox.

Indeed, Toyota has given the GR Yaris a major makeover. Its 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine first produced 261 hp and 360 Nm, but now the power source is good for 280 hp and 390 Nm. The model has been given a completely different interior and an automatic transmission is now available as well.

We called the GR Yaris a homologation special above and it is. Underneath it has nothing to do with the regular Yaris. Its chassis is different, as is its drivetrain and three-door body. It’s a bit like a modern Ford Escort RS Cosworth, in that respect.

Price Toyota GR Yaris

The Toyota GR Yaris with manual gearbox is available from 81,795 euros, making it about 22,000 euros more expensive than before. More than 33 grand disappear directly into the treasury as bpm. Could that be any worse? Yes, because the version with automatic transmission has a huge price of 43,000 euros bpm.
