Italy, what a disappointment: The Government’s Auto Program is failing, who benefits from it

Bad news for Italy. It’s about the car market. The Government’s plan did not materialize, here is who benefits

Among the many topics on the Government’s agenda is also the one regarding the implementation strategies for those related to the production of vehicles and the market.

Known problems in connection with Stellantis They are not yet resolved and, while we are looking for solutions, we are missing the boat on other fronts. An important brand emerging on a global scale has indeed made a surprising announcement: it is clear who is losing and who is not.

At the core of everything, the executive led by Giorgia Meloni has to deal with an unclear strategy towards Stellantis, the holding company that also controls Fiat. The company recently confirmed that it has no intention of leaving Italy but the constant use of d.spread abroad and pay to reduce work for the workers they don’t look good. Relations between the government and Stellantis seem strained for a few months now.

Tavares, CEO of the international company, has made it clear that the company expects great support from the Italian government to continue to keep production high, above all a new incentive program for the purchase of cars. The measure is ready but it is not known when it will come into force. The government is taking its time and, at the same time, it has received bad news.

No more production in Italy: the brand turns to others

Although there is uncertainty in Italy, there are those who are better than us in attracting international investment. This is the case of Spain, which he managed to formalize the agreement with Cheryone of the new emerging brands from China, specializing in electric vehicles.

In March there were talks of a possible investment with an Asian company in Italy that could be a focal point for Chery for its ambitious strategies in the European market.

But it won’t be. The Chinese company is now looking to its Iberian neighbor, where the percentage of adoption of battery-powered cars is still low (12%), but with better development potential. Chery plans to develop three new models in Spain by 2026, designed specifically for the domestic and European markets. An important investment that will probably leave Italy without the possibility of a similar agreement, at least in the short term. The search for a second producer on the national scene, however, continues.
