Motobox Kremer: Still not tired after 25 years / World Endurance Championship

The new World Endurance Championship season begins with the Motobox Kremer Championship at Le Mans with four German drivers. The team is confident as Yamaha’s support has also increased.

The Motobox Kremer team finished the 2023 season of the FIM Endurance World Championship in 11th place overall. After solid results and finishes in all races, the goal of the private team from Oberneisen in 2024 is a top 10 position. Daniel Rubin was already part of the team last season; Marco Fetz and Dominik Vincon have been added for this season. Bastian Ubl is available as a replacement pilot for the Yamaha team.

In free practice on Thursday at the Circuit Bugatti, Motobox finished 14th. Although qualifying did not go well in the end with 23rd place, a positive outlook remains after Yamaha Germany also promised more support for this year. The EWC midfield will have moved closer in 2024.

“This year the team is participating in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the 25th time and we are proud that we can count on the support of Yamaha Germany this year,” emphasized team manager Georg Haas in an interview with SPEEDWEEK. com. “A big thank you goes to Eric de Seynes, who has helped us a lot in Yamaha Europe service.”

Haas, who holds the reins of the team alongside EWC legend Manfred Kremer, continued: “As always, we rely on the consistency and spirit of the team for the race. The technicians who all give up their vacation for the team and spend their free time with us are just amazing. Thanks to various reinforcements in our mechanics and driver line-up, we can start the first race in good condition. Our strategy for the anniversary race is ready, the whole team already has four drivers in their hearts.

Newcomer Marco Fetz is also approaching his first race on the supercharged Yamaha. “Despite the 23rd place in qualifying, we are really happy, the lap times were also good. Domi was very fast with a time of 1:37.8 minutes, I was able to do 1:38.3 minutes and Daniel was also not far behind,” said the player the 24-year-old. “Finally we were able to make our bike better for the race, which means we are now in a very good position. The whole team can’t wait for the race.”

Dominik Vincon has been an integral part of EWC for many years. This weekend, however, he makes his first race on Yamaha in the World Endurance Championship. “The starting position is a bit disappointing because all the drivers were between 14 and 20 in their groups, but counting the two fastest drivers, they ended up only 23rd in the race depends on all three drivers, so “We have to be stronger,” summed up Knittlinger quickly.

“The motorcycle can be driven frequently and easily. In the end, the goal is to win the race as quickly and with as little effort as possible,” says Vincon. “The team has proven many times enough that the bike is reliable. Now it’s up to us drivers to ride a little faster. I’m really looking forward to the start, we’re in good shape and we’re doing everything we can.”
