Leverkusen (dpa / tmn) – Mazda is expanding its model range and placing the CX-80 at the top of its range in the summer. The luxury off-road vehicle measures exactly five meters and is intended to move the Japanese closer to the premium segment, where models such as the BMW X5 or Mercedes GLE are at home, with prices starting at 55,350 euros.

Technically closely related to the CX-60, it jumps over it by 25 centimeters. Mazda has also stretched the wheelbase to almost 3.20 meters – making room for the third row of seats, which is available with two or three seats. The trunk has a capacity of 258 to 1971 liters depending on the seating area.

Plug-in and diesel combinations are available

Mazda remains modest in terms of performance, but it is appealing to the E-Generation with a plug-in hybrid for the base model: the 2.5-liter four-cylinder has an output of 141 kW/191 hp, the electric motor has 129 kW/175 hp and a powerful battery of 17.8 kWh.

This means that the CX-80 can travel up to 60 km on electricity alone and has a typical consumption of 1.6 liters (CO2: 36 g/km.) With all engines working as a team, the system output is 241 kW/327 hp and the maximum speed is 195 km / h.

The second engine variant is more modern: a 3.3 liter six-cylinder diesel with 187 kW/254 hp. According to Mazda, it enables up to 219 km/h and consumes an average of 5.8 liters (CO2: 148 g/km).
