With Vision Gran Turismo, Skoda enters the game

Skoda debuts in one of the most popular PlayStation games. And the Czech model is more interesting.

For the first time, the Skoda concept car and Vision Gran Turismo enters the popular game Gran Turismo 7 to pour PlayStation 4 and 5. A smart way, and couldn’t be more fun, to reach a new audience.

The Vision Gran Turismo is inspired by the 1957 Skoda 1100 OHC Spider, developed to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Under the direction of Oliver Stefani, Skoda’s design team envisioned an open single seater, combining design elements from the popular 1100 OHC with new features such as the two-piece rear wing.

Players can choose between two paint colors for their Skoda Vision Gran Turismo: one reminiscent of the 130 RS, celebrated for its double class victory at the 1977 Monte Carlo Rally, and the second in Explorer Green, the body color of Vision 7S, the 100% electric 7-seater SUV Concept that pioneered the Solid Modern design.

Above the steering wheel, directly in the driver’s field of vision, there is a crystal-shaped power indicator (an homage to the Czech Bohemian crystal). The cockpit display not only shows the current speed, the selected operating mode and the battery level, but also acts as a rearview mirror, always showing the area behind the car. In addition, on-board distance sensors alert the driver to the presence of other vehicles nearby, effectively reducing the risk of side collisions.

Gran Turismo is used to regularly hosting concepts from major manufacturers. To do this, they must submit a complete technical sheet as close as possible to that of the real car. So let’s look at Skoda’s vision. Designed for efficiency and exceptional driving dynamics, it weighs only 1,300 kg and combines a length of approximately 4.41 meters with a width of approximately 1.95 meters and a height of only 94.9 centimeters. In total, four electric motors, powered by an 87 kWh lithium-ion battery, ensure an impressive level of performance. Permanent magnet synchronous motors (brushless) are arranged in two units, two on the front axle and two on the rear axle. Each motor produces 200 kW and rotates up to 25,000 rpm, giving a total power of 800 kW. Peak torque is 1,020 Nm, allowing smooth acceleration through the single-speed transmission. All-wheel drive optimizes torque distribution between the two axles for better cornering performance, ensuring a responsive driving experience.
