Lin Jarvis is leaving Yamaha at the end of 2024 / MotoGP

It’s not just the MotoGP rider market that could change dramatically for the 2025 season, given that two-thirds of the riders in the field are out of contract. A big name will also step down behind the scenes. Yamaha race director Lin Jarvis will leave MotoGP action at the end of the year.

The ever-confident Briton is 66 and said in an interview with a Spanish platform that he will step down at the end of 2024. Jarvis – who was the first top star Max Biaggi (52) to sign with Yamaha in 1999 – speaks of some travel fatigue that now you are in for it.

The balance sheet of a quiet thinker and a leader who pulls the strings behind the scenes makes more than interesting reading. Jarvis lured Valentino Rossi from Honda to Yamaha in late 2003 – the Italian then awarded him a total of four world championships. Jarvis has a paternal friendship with Rossi. The most World Cup wins in the Jarvis era came from Jorge Lorenzo in 2010, 2012, 2015 and, most recently, Fabio Quartararo in 2021.

Arvis also experienced some incredible moments such as the battle between Rossi and Lorenzo in Barcelona in 2009. Jarvis also stood on the Yamaha podium in the 2015 Sepang Clash between Rossi and Marc Marquez. A memorable 2015 World Cup final in Valencia eventually saw the Spaniard emerge victorious in a close battle between Rossi and Lorenzo.

After 25 years, the MotoGP paddock will lose one of the most successful leaders and masters of motorsport at the end of the season.
