C-suv Opel Grandland, many new features under the new ‘skin’ – News and Overview

In the new Opel Grandland SUV – which compared to the previous one has kept only the name – there are many changes, and not only in terms of style, which has been inspired by the Experimental Concept.
Designed, developed and produced in Germany, the Grandland brings to the market one of the first and most interesting uses of the Stellantis’ Stla Medium platform (first discussed with the Peugeot 3008) which was designed for electric versions but which, as the market and customers they need , it also offers two petrol engines with electricity. They are the ones used for the Grandland Plug-in Hybrid – which offers up to 85 km of autonomy and zero domestic emissions (WLTP) and for the Grandland Hybrid version in which the reduction of consumption and emissions is entrusted to the excellent 48 Mhev Volt technology. .
Opel is focusing on the Grandland Electric version which uses the Stla Medium platform with a flat battery and which offers a WLTP range of up to 700 km.
The result that the Rüsselsheim company was able to achieve thanks to a new generation electric engine, improved aerodynamics and many energy-saving functions including a heat pump for the climate in the passenger compartment.

“The new Grandland is an important step for Opel – said Florian Huettl, CEO of the German brand Stellantis – Along with it, all Opel cars, without exception, are now also available with an electric drive. This is a big step in our electric offensive and therefore it will strengthen our position in the important C-SUV segment.”
While the new Grandland, in all its variants, reduces emissions, it will also offer what Opel calls “powerful and comfortable driving pleasure”. Results that are possible with frequency-selective shock absorbers and dirt.
In practice this technology creates a second hydraulic circuit in the shock absorbing chamber to adjust the damping force relative to the circuit. And having a comfortable response at high frequencies, as it happens in a short impact on stones or a water hole, is instead accompanied by a sporty driving style and a direct contact with the road. The new electric base, even in fuel-enhanced variants, has given Opel designers new freedom to combine elegance and sophistication with a commanding presence on the road, which is visible from the first glance.
Compared to the previous Grandland, there is 173 mm more length, 19 mm more height and 64 mm more width.
With a set of dimensions (length 4650 mm; width 1905 mm; height 1660 mm) that provides safety as well as status, well supported in this by alloy wheels that reach up to 20 inches.
The order is also based on the new implementation of Opel’s characteristic face, the so-called Vizor 3D.
This feature is paired with an illuminated Blitz logo, further accentuated by Edge Light technology.
The design of the Opel Compass (Opel compass) brought to the Experimental concept also stands out and is based on the central part of the bonnet, and all other elements are arranged horizontally.
Inside, ergonomic seats approved by Agr (Aktion Gesunder Rücken ie Campaign for back health) and the German orthopedic association stand out – as is typical for Opel. At Grandland they add a function that improves side comfort thanks to two pneumatic bags located on the backrest side pad. In addition, the patented Intelli-Seat function is available as standard in the front seats which uses a position that reduces pressure on the coxswain, ensuring exceptional comfort even during long journeys on the highway. The layout of the dashboard is also very attractive, continuing the horizontal theme, with lines running across the dashboard to the doors, adding to the feeling of width and spaciousness. And that’s emphasized by the 16-inch central display tilted slightly towards the driver. A feature that, together with the design of the high center console and the new steering wheel, promises performance and playability.
