UOKiK: DS 7 Crossback for service. Problem with curtain air bags

The DS Automobiles brand is calling on DS 7 Crossback compact SUV owners for service. A defect in the deployment of the curtain air bag was discovered in the vehicles. If activated, the airbag may pose a risk to rear seat passengers.

We recently mentioned a recall campaign related to faulty airbags in Citroën and DS Automobiles vehicles in France. We found that no cars in our country are covered by this specific measure, but the Competition and Consumer Protection Office notified about another one. DS 7 Crossback systems may have a problem with the curtain airbags.

Entrepreneur Stellantis Polska sp. z o., based in Warsaw, informed the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection that in DS 7 Crossback cars, the placement of the handle near the curtain airbag may be insufficient. This creates a risk of contact with the rear seat passenger’s attachments if the curtain airbag is deployed.

On the Polish market, the renovation campaign covers 110 DS 7 Crossbacks.

The entrepreneur informed the owners of the affected vehicles about the need to contact the authorized services to install an additional metal band that keeps the handle for the passengers in the back seats.

The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection is not able to provide detailed information to consumers about campaigns advertised and run by entrepreneurs.

This information includes the implementation of the duties of the entrepreneur, according to the role played in the business, mentioned in Art. Section 14 2, art. Section 17 2 or art. 19 part 3 of Regulation (EU) 2018/858 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 May 2018 on the approval and market surveillance of vehicles and their trailers, and systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles, amending the Regulation (EC) No. 715 /2007 and (EC) No. 595/2009 and repealing Directive 2007/46/EC (OJ EU L 151 of 14/06/2018, p. 1).
