New Born Cupra VZ 2024: Goes up to 325 hp!!

In the announcement demonstration of the release of the future A290, Ypsilon HF, ID.2 GTI, Cupra said that it was necessary to remember that they already have a “sporty” electric compact in the list. And to do it right, release a new, really bad version.

Chassis and dimensions

The Cupra Born VZ gets more bold now sending 325 hp and 545 Nm of torque down compared to just 230 hp and 310 Nm before. Thanks to this, 0 to 100 km/h is sent in 5″7 (ie 1″ to 1″3 better) and its V-Max rises to 200 km/h compared to 160 before.

Cupra notes that brake pedal feel has been improved as has the DCC Sport suspension which uses new springs and shock absorbers, new settings and revised shock absorbers. Management has also been completely redesigned (software and hardware).

The range is uninterrupted and reaches 570 km (WLTP) thanks to the new 79 kWh battery that accepts high charging rates of 170 kW (i.e. 30 minutes to go from 10 to 80% charge).

For those who are troubled by maneuvers, parking is now made easier with Remote Park Assist which allows you to complete maneuvers using your smartphone. The Parking Assistance System allows the car to learn to park in familiar spaces by recording the characteristics and direction of the car on a map. Finally, the High View Camera function provides the driver with a 360° view of the vehicle and its surroundings to facilitate everyday positioning.

Style

The guest receives an exclusive Esterel Green color while Midnight Black is added to the range of available colors. The VZ logo is also new.

New widened (8″ instead of 7.5″) 20-inch diameter rims are seen, including a set of forged rims with high-performance tires.

The interior is more sporty with new Cup Bucket seats (those of the Formentor VZ5) and paddles on the steering wheel not to change gears (which it doesn’t have) but to manage energy recovery.

Born VZ benefits from a new sound set of 425 watts in 10 hp from Sennheiser, a new 12.9-inch screen including a new touch bar with backlight that allows you to directly adjust the air conditioning and volume.

Cost

Still unannounced, the CUPRA Born VZ will be launched in the third quarter of 2024 and will be available to order from June in France.

The Born is not in the segment of small city cars that are arriving soon and knowing that the current VZ XL (77 kWh battery) of 230 hp has a price of more than 46,000 euros, it will certainly remain far from the 435 hp MG4. XPower (exam no video) offered for 40,500 euros (and even 33,500 euros with the current discount of 7,000 euros). It remains to be seen on the road …
