After a brief detour to America, the Motorcycle World Championship returns to Europe this weekend. The “Gran Premio Estrella Galicia 0.0 de España” brings to itself a complete program that includes, among other things, the season opener of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. With Leo Rammerstorfer (Austria), Rocco Sessler (Germany) and Lennox Phommara (Switzerland), three German-speaking talents are at the beginning of this year.

Red Bull KTM rider Dani Pedrosa, who competes in MotoGP with a wild card, is sure to also cause excitement in Andalusia.

The 4.42 km long “Circuito de Jerez” has been named after motorcycle icon Ángel Nieto since 2018 and has a total of five left turns and eight right turns. The longest lead is only 607 m The most successful driver at Jerez is Valentino Rossi with nine wins (including seven in the first class). Jorge Lorenzo won a total of five times at Jerez, followed on the leaderboard by Dani Pedrosa, Alex Crivillé and Mick Doohan with four wins each.

Last year, KTM works rider Brad Binder won the race, while world champion Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati) took victory over the GP distance. Jorge Martin, who finished fourth last year, travels to Jerez as the World Cup leader. Can the Spaniard continue his lead or will Enea Bastianini (Ducati/2nd) or Austin winner Maverick Viñales (Aprilia/3rd) take the helm in the World Championship standings?
