The body shape resembles a four-door coupé with a low roofline and frameless side windows. However, it sits comfortably in all four seats. In the most advanced stages (2.0 TDI; 40 TDI), the same engine base produces up to 204 hp. Of course you shouldn’t expect sporty dynamics like a car, but it has more than enough handling for everyday life. The two-liter free-revving turbo gasoline engine (EA888) shows more bite. It has got its long-term fuel consumption problems under control and, depending on the level of expansion, produces 150 to 265 hp.

3.0 TDI (45 and 50 TDI; 218 to 286 hp) is stable, cultivated and at the same time economical. Audi has also focused on the pinnacle of the performance category: The S6 Like all of Audi’s most powerful models, it relies on quattro all-wheel drive. Luxurious interior in test A5

The standard MMI infotainment system display in our A5 measures seven inches. Operation via the rotary button and touch points is practical, as is the optional solid navigation solution with a fast computer and logical display as well as a good hands-free Bluetooth audio system. Vehicle functions such as Audi Drive Select profile selection are also supported. Premium value-added digital services are possible via Audi Connect.

The A5 Sportback becomes a continuous concert hall with a Bang & Olufsen sound system: a 16-channel DSP amplifier with more than 750 watts of power and 19 speakers. Unfortunately, the integration of DAB+ radio and smartphone costs more.

The A5 is a very pleasant long-distance car. Despite its mileage and not always problem-free axle bearings, our model moves without roaring, but worn brake discs rub.
