Caterham V Project Teased Back Ahead Of July 12 For The First Time

Correction: This story originally stated that Italdesign created the shape of the Project V. The company actually made a show car.

Caterham released a new teaser for the Project V EV, showing the rear of the car. The British automaker also released a short video that highlights the body further. The prototype will debut on July 12 and be shown at the Goodwood Festival of Speed starting on July 13.

The rear of the Project V has oval-shaped taillights. The roof has a circular shape. In profile, the car has bow guards. The nose has large indentations on the lower corners. So far, horizontal running lights are visible, but the headlights are not visible in the teaser image.

Judging by the numbers seen in the teasers, we suspect that Project V has two people. If not, the people in the back seat would probably squeeze. There are no pictures or videos that give a look inside the cabin to show us the layout of the dashboard.

Anthony Jannarelly was the lead architect for Project V, and Italdesign built the show car. Unlike the regular Caterham Seven models, this one has a real roof. The brand says the model reflects its new style language.

Caterham is yet to release any technical details about the Project V unless it uses a full electric powertrain. The brand is famous for making lightweight machines, so we’re curious to see if the EV can maintain the low level from previous offerings.

Following the premiere at Goodwood, we still don’t know when Project V starts delivering. The price of the model is still a secret, too.

Caterham began teasing the Project V shortly after unveiling the EV Seven as a one-off proof-of-concept. It has an electric motor that produces 240 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, and this output allows it to reach 60 miles per hour in 4.0 seconds. This model weighs only 154 pounds less than the existing, combustion-powered Seven 485.

In April 2023, Caterham began moving into a new 54,000 square foot headquarters in Dartford, Kent, England. The facility houses all production, engineering, sports and business personnel in one building. The company intends to increase production by 50 percent to around 750 vehicles per year.
