Peugeot 2008 II: which engine to choose?

Looking for a Peugeot 2008 II and don’t know which engine to choose for the French SUV? Follow our guide.

Featuring aggressive styling and contemporary interiors, the Peugeot 2008 II (2019-…) makes new memories. Its success continues from time to time, even if caution is needed regarding its mechanics.

The most important SUV on the market

As 208 which comes from, the Peugeot 2008 II it has been completely revised for the launch of its second generation in 2019. Especially with a presentation that is impressive to say the least, that makes you forget the peaceful curves of its predecessor. This is especially true of the GT Line finish, where the three-point headlights give it a suggestive look.
The Peugeot 2008 also has a concert feel inside, with an original organization of the driving space. However, the ergonomics of certain controls is quite questionable. 7″ or 10″ depending on the version, the central screen, slightly oriented towards the driver, adjusts the situation. But sometimes he can be irreplaceable. Point to check.
Unlike the 208, the 2008 SUV knows how to pack in the back, with good space. The trunk of 410 dm3 is enough for everyday use, but it is not something unique for the unit. In addition, modularity is fundamental: the double floor is only available from the Allure finish and the bench does not have a slide.

Peugeot 2008 II: which engine to choose?

1.2 PureTech 100 : simple and pleasant, this reduced version already offers many features for daily use. But it is only associated with a manual gearbox, which is certainly pleasant to handle, but not so good in traffic jams. It’s the best option, but also the cheapest: you can get a 2021 Active with 30,000 km for less than €16,000.
1.2 PureTech 130 : Performance takes a big step forward here, which benefits the SUV’s versatility. Intentionally, this engine is even more greedy than the entry level, even if its counterparts from other brands do not do better. Allow 70,000 km for the Allure version for less than €16,000.
1.2 PureTech 130 EAT8 : 2008 gets even nicer with the excellent EAT8 automatic transmission. Above all, this version allows you to get the driving assistance package (adaptive cruise control, etc.). But the possibilities are increasing: the models have 20,000 kilometers more, and the finishes and prices are the same as the manual gearbox.
1.2 PureTech 155 : only this engine was associated with the GT finish. So the performance is consistent with its modern presentation, but the utility is high. Above all, it costs a lot for its exclusivity: very rare examples under €16,000 have around 150,000 km.

We recommend: 1.2 PureTech 100 Allure from 2021
In order to reduce the risks associated with distribution, it is better to choose a model after 2020 (reinforced belt). A 100 hp unit, versatile enough and more accessible, allows you to aim for a well-equipped Allure finish with 40,000 km, for less than €16,000.
