Nissan is refreshing its Qashqai and hoping to revive the fallen king of SUVs

The Japanese brand’s bestseller is getting a facelift three years after its launch. Nissan Qashqai, the erstwhile SUV leader in Europe, is looking to regain a foothold in the segment it helped shape in 2007.

Nissan has revealed the new face of its Qashqai. The long-time number one in SUV sales in Europe, the best seller of the Japanese manufacturer has continued to lose ground in recent years, until it was left to the tenth place in sales in the European segment last year with 144,648 copies (+ 25). %).

Qashqai, which popularized the SUV segment in Europe with its first version launched in 2007, could not regain its position in front of very strong competition such as Volkswagen Tiguan or Peugeot 3008. An impressive new grille

In terms of design, the Qashqai 2024 version makes major styling changes, especially at the front. The Japanese crossover thus sports a new, more attractive grille. It is made up of many support elements painted in glossy black, with modified optics.

On the other hand, the adjustment is more reasonable in the back. The headlights are entitled to a completely new light signature, while the rear bumper has been revised and now offers a coordinated color. A new range of unique rims also appear on the list, along with three new body colors.

New onboard technologies

Apart from the arrival of Google in the multimedia system, the interior of the new Qashqai remains very modern and offers a few new features. However, Nissan’s best seller sees all of its driver assistance systems as up-to-date. First of all, the autonomous emergency braking functions have been recalibrated to improve hazard detection and react more quickly in the event of a collision risk.

The lane keeping system is now automatically activated when the car is started, while the intelligent speed assist system has been improved. Another big new feature concerns the personalized driver assistance mode, which allows you to quickly adjust the level of intervention of different assistance technologies according to each person’s wishes.

Nothing changes under the hood

In terms of engines, the new Qashqai has a 140 hp hybrid version, as well as a 190 hp E-Power hybrid version. Two new trim levels, N-Design and N-Design+, also complete a few new features for this modification, with additional accessories and specific body features.
