‘Zero tailpipe emissions’, says the press release about the updated Range Rover Evoque. Special, because there is no fully electric version of Land Rover’s compact model.
The text was probably written by an intern, because right after the words ‘zero tailpipe emissions’ it says ‘P300e electric hybrid offers CO2 emissions from 31g/km’. And that’s not zero…
Range Rover Evoque under the knife
However, we are being stupid. The most important thing is that the Range Rover Evoque has got a high profile. Can you see that? Hardly. The headlights – with LED matrix technology – have been given a slightly different layout and the design in the grille has also been changed.
Brand new channel console
The changes are immediately apparent in the interior of the Range Rover Evoque. On the dashboard we now get a brand new center console. Land Rover also pulled the plug on the recently updated Discovery Sport.
The infotainment screen is slightly curved and now hangs like a painting above the center tunnel. It’s a shame that Land Rover has removed almost all physical bindings. Climate functions are now also controlled via the display on the Range Rover Evoque.
The new Land Rover is a LEGO set for adults
We saw those touch buttons on the steering wheel. The CEO of Volkswagen said this week that future models will return to real buttons. A lot of complaints were received from Volkswagen drivers.
A plug-in hybrid with a range of 62 km
A slight change in the Range Rover Evoque’s engine lineup. There are still a number of mild hybrids, the P160, P200 AWD, P250 AWD and P300 AWD, as well as diesels. The P300e plug-in hybrid has received different specifications.
It combines a three-cylinder turbo with an electric motor for a total power of 309 hp. You can run up to 100 kilometers per hour in 6.4 seconds, but the most effective is fuel consumption and electric range.
For the price of a Bentley Bentayga you can also buy this Land Rover
The Range Rover Evoque P300e can travel up to 62 km on its 14.9 kWh battery. Land Rover itself also knows that this is often impossible, so the manufacturer reports that the practice range is about 48 km.
