Valentino Rossi drives to Le Mans

Valentino Rossi will compete in two Michelin Le Mans Cup races during the 24 Hours of Le Mans weekend.

Valentino Rossi will drive the WRT BMW M4 GT3 as he competes in the second round of the Le Mans Cup series as part of the Road to Le Mans event.

The Italian will have the opportunity to prove himself for the first time at the Circuit de la Sarthe. During his time in MotoGP, he raced only part of it, on the Bugatti track.

Rossi became BMW’s factory driver this year. He makes no secret of his ambitions to compete in the 2024 World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, taking on a BMW M Hybrid, model LMDh.

The BMW M4 will race at the Circuit de la Sarthe on June 8 and 9 and will also be entered into the WEC next year in the new GT3 class that will replace GTE.

“I want to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans,” Rossi recalled recently. “At the moment I am racing a GT car, but I will probably jump into a hypercar in the future.

The upcoming Le Mans Cup will also feature manufacturers such as Aston Martin, Honda, Porsche, Audi, Ferrari, Mercedes and Lamborghini.

“Once again, the Road to Le Mans has attracted a large number of entries with stars starting alongside regulars and the presence of Valentino Rossi on the grid is a huge boost to the event,” Frederic Lequien, CEO of Le Mans Endurance Management . .
