Dacia is improving its modern models. A new solution could save your life

From July this year, the new law GSR2 (Global Safety Regulatgion No. 2) will come into force, regarding car safety requirements in the European Union. For this reason, the Romanian manufacturer did – somewhat forced – a facelift for three of its suppliers. Dacia Sandero, Dacia Sandero Stepway and Dacia Jogger have received new safety systems and new equipment options. There are also new mouth designs and new body colors.

Before we talk about safety, let’s talk a little about style and appearance. As part of the improvement of the model range, the manufacturer has expanded its range with new lip designs and new body colors. The new Flexwheel biton Atara rims design is debuting on the Sandero model, which will also be available in black on the Stepway and Jogger models. Randia or Randia Dark diamond-cut rims are available on Stepway and Jogger models only.

Also new is the Beige Safar color – exclusive to the Sandero Stepway. Additionally, two body colors – Sheiste Gray and Cedre Green – will now be available in all versions and models.

As a modern part, the radar from the front bumper was removed from all three models, and its function, namely the operation of the ISA, LDW, LKA and AEBS systems, was taken over by a camera hidden in the windshield. From now on, the entire model range – from the Essential level upwards – will have new safety systems to ensure compliance with the new GSR2 regulations. We are talking about such systems as:

  • Event data recorder
  • Preparation for the installation of the alcohol lock
  • Road sign recognition and over speed warning system
  • Route control system
  • Road maintenance system
  • Driver fatigue management system
  • Rear parking assist
  • Light sensor and rain sensor
  • Emergency Brake Assist used for pedestrian and cyclist detection
  • Emergency stop sign

The cars will also have a “My Safety” button on the dashboard, which will allow the driver to turn off some ADAS systems while driving and each time the car is started, depending on the version of the device, it will also have a socket USB-C front and back.

In addition to the above features, the entire series uses the Recovery code, ie QR code mounted as a sticker on the front and rear windshield. Scanning gives you the opportunity to check the recovery data file prepared by Dacia using a special, free software. This solution gives firefighters access to all the information they need for a safe and efficient intervention, saving valuable minutes.

The hybrid Dacia Jogger HYBRID 140 gets a new E-SAVE function. The settings allow the traction battery to reach a certain level of charge (about 70%) to provide enough power for the rest of the way. When the driver expects to encounter a certain driving condition (eg a driving lane), he can activate the mode a few kilometers in advance and turn it off after the driving lane. Activating E-SAVE mode is a matter of driver choice, with it being disabled every time the engine is started.
