Alfa Romeo Milano Veloce and Abarth 600e: they will be very different

While Stellantis has launched the Alfa Romeo Milano, with the promise of a sports car in particular and 240 ch Veloce Edition, one might wonder if finally its technical cousin, Abarth 600e, cannot provide the same service. The question has been asked, and these two cars are meant to offer a different driving experience.

One side Alfa Romeo Milano Veloce

The Alfa Romeo Milano Veloce is presented as the lightest car in its category (1,505 kg in the 240 hp version) with excellent weight distribution. The team responsible for driving dynamics, the same team that developed the Giulia GTA, worked at the Balocco test center to ensure that the Milano Veloce offers best-in-class handling.

The Veloce version has a suspension element lowered by 25 mm, front and rear anti-roll bars, and a superior brake system with a larger 380 mm front disc. Added to this, the Torsen differential and 20-inch tires specially designed to increase grip, promise great performance.

On the other hand, the Abarth 600e

As for the Abarth 600e, the sports model actually shares the platform with the Milano engine (named Perfo-eCMP), and benefits from a different preparation from Stellantis Motorsport. According to the release, the Abarth 600e will have a low-skid mechanical variant which, together with high-performance tires developed by the Formula E supplier, will allow for maximum grip.

This vehicle has been designed to provide excellent driving dynamics in all conditions, promoting a balanced performance between power and fuel efficiency.

Different teams with different philosophies

So it was during the presentation of the Alfa Romeo Milano that we asked the question directly to the “head of the product” of the Milano: Will the Abarth 600 and Milano compare in performance? According to Alfa Romeo Milano’s product manager, although the two cars share technical features, they should not be directly compared in terms of performance. The development teams, Stellantis Motorsport on the one hand and Alfa Romeo on the other, have brought unique features to each model that reflect their special vision of the future of electric sports mobility.

To appreciate what each team accomplished, it seems it’s interesting to put the Alfa Romeo Milano Veloce and the Abarth 600e side by side in Balocco. to decide which of the two teams performed better.
