Ferrari with an unusual color at the Miami GP, we explain why

Red is Ferrari’s dominant and inalienable color in F1, with rare exceptions. From one year to the next, this color is more or less accompanied by white, black or yellow, knowing that red was the historic color of the race associated with Italy at the beginning of the discipline.

However, before the 1980s, the Scuderia’s machines could rarely be covered in blue. This was especially at the end of the 1964 season, when the Maranello company was brought under the banner of NART (North American Racing Team), its importer in the Atlantic.

Blue La Plata and Blue Dino

As a result, instead of the usual red, his car showed a livery that combines gray and blue. This covered his last two events of the year, in the Americas, during the US GP, in Watkins Glen, then the one in Mexico, in Mexico City.

As the Miami Grand Prix approaches, scheduled for May 3-5, Scuderia Ferrari has just hinted that it will pay homage to this part of its history with a special edition, intended to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Italian brand’s presence in North America. Therefore, SF-24 will be numbered with two shades of blue, called Azzurro La Plata and Azzurro Dino.
