The Koenigsegg Gemera doesn’t get a V8 as well as a three-cylinder, good for 2,300 hp

Koenigsegg makes cars for the filthy rich, but they may have choked on their own sparkling wine when the Gemera was introduced. The new model may produce 1,700 hp, but did all those rich people have to sit and listen to the three-cylinder engine? They shouldn’t do that at all, according to the CEO’s recent announcement … Or at least: if they want to dig deeper into their pockets.

Money and patience

Christian Von Koenigsegg has opened the book on the upcoming Gemera, and the good man apparently came across a few pages we weren’t previously privy to. The CEO revealed that the Gemera will not remain the only one with a 2.0-liter three-cylinder hybrid electric powertrain. It is connected to one that combines three electric motors and a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 from Jesko, and that has its consequences for performance. Not bad for a three-cylinder Gemera with its 1,700 hp, but the V8 variant should deliver up to 2,300 hp. The rest of the stats will remain hush-hush for now, but you can count on the newcomer to shave a tenth off the already 0-to-100 time of 1.9 seconds.

Von Koenigsegg was also able to immediately report what a bigger engine would do to the Gemera’s price. This will increase by another 400,000 euros, from 1.5 million for the three-cylinder to around 1.9 million for the V8. However, you still have to be patient, because you will not receive your Gemera immediately. Although the model was first shown in 2020, the first delivery is not planned until 2025.
