Could it be less ounces? Kia is also working on a small electric car

European car brands are now gaining momentum with smaller and cheaper electric cars. Kia is also now announcing the arrival of a smaller model: the EV2.

Unfortunately, the looks and many other details surrounding the Kia EV2 are still missing. Still, it’s good news that the EV2 was officially named and Kia, because until now there were rumors about a small electric car. It is now known that Kia intends to have the EV2 on the market by at least 2030: in that year the Koreans want to sell 1.5 million electric cars – spread over 15 models.

As its name suggests, the EV2 comes under the EV3. The angular EV3 launched last year is a competitor to Peugeot’s compact electric SUV, the E-2008. The car is in the 40,000 euro segment, so the EV2 still has to be under that. Rumors previously talked about a price of 30,000 dollars: Kia EV2 will soon join the list of Volkswagen ID.2 with Peugeot e-208 and electric Opel Corsa, which starts under 30,000 euros.

The offer continues to grow

So finally there is the prospect of a more diverse range of smaller and more affordable electric cars. It will be especially busy for Kia next year, when four new electric vehicles will be launched. That year will also see the launch of Kia’s new electric platform, the Platform Beyond Vehicle model. Initially, one new car will be made on it, but for a long time it will be a Kia platform. All told, Kia will have fifteen electric vehicles in 2017 – although not every model will be sold in every country.
