SPX/Seoul. Korean automaker Kia wants to increase its vehicle sales to 4.3 million vehicles annually by 2030, an increase of nearly 34.4 percent compared to the 2024 target. Of that, 1.6 million vehicles will be electric only and 882,000 more of hybrid or. plug-in engines, which should be available for all important brands. In 2030, about 1.8 million more cars will continue to be powered by the combustion engine alone without electric assistance.

By 2026, Kia plans to bring six new electric vehicles to the market alone, including the EV3 compact model this year, followed by the EV2 small electric car, the sporty EV4 and the mid-size EV5, which is already on the market in China. . . Nine more clean EV models are expected to be added by 2027.

The Koreans also want to expand the area of ​​so-called special vehicles in the area of ​​light commercial electric vehicles, which are being launched under the acronym PBV (Platform Beyond Vehicle). Based on this flexible platform, vehicles should be able to be freely adapted to the needs of customers in the areas of logistics and transportation. In this context, Kia also uses “PBV” as an abbreviation for Purpose Built Vehicle. The first special vehicles are the PV5 and PV7, which are scheduled to hit the market by 2027 at the latest.
