Volkswagen ID. Xtreme. An off-road electric model

Volkswagen launched the ID concept. XTREME – a model of an electric off-road vehicle. The fully electric concept is based on the all-wheel drive design of the GTX

“This is proof that the MEB platform has great potential,” says Silke Bagschik, head of MEB’s product line. “For many of our customers, cars are more than just transportation. Thanks to ID. XTREME, we are taking electric mobility to a new level,” adds Bagschik.

Rear axle drive and software changes in the vehicle control unit increase the output of the vehicle system by 88 hp – up to 387 hp compared to the ID.4 GTX, or about 30 percent.

A raised chassis, 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, revised front bumper and 50 mm wide 3D printed wheel arches give the concept car an aggressive look. A roof rack with LED auxiliary lights and an aluminum chassis plate make the all-wheel drive vehicle ready for off-road adventures.

Also in terms of acoustics, id. The XTREME has something special to offer: the driving sounds have been developed together with the Volkswagen design department especially for this model. Inside, the car attracts attention with a number of different elements, including many Alcantara inserts, modified armrests or different elements in orange. The basis of its construction was an unused test model from before the start of production with a previously used battery with a capacity of 77 kWh.

Volkswagen ID. XTREME made its debut on ID. Treffen in Locarno, Switzerland. The event, organized by and for electric fans, was held for the second time this year.
