During identification. Treffen – a special event organized for electric enthusiasts – Volkswagen decided to surprise the fans of zero-emission cars and present a model of an electric off-road vehicle called the ID. XTREME. The name of the concept means “high excitement and the possibility of getting an adventure”, and the car itself should be distinguished by a bad look and a lot of power.
The basis for creating an identity. XTREME was the ID.4 GTX model. The all-terrain powerlifter has a dual-motor drivetrain that has a total system power of 387 hp – 30 percent more than the aforementioned ID.4 GTX.
Its off-road ability is affected, among others, by 18-inch rims with off-road tires and a raised chassis. Volkswagen also decided to modify the front bumper and use wheel arches with a width of 50 mm, made by 3D printing. A roof rack with additional LED lights and an aluminum plate under the chassis make the car capable of handling even in difficult conditions.
Inside, the car attracts attention with a number of different elements, including many Alcantara inserts, modified armrests or different elements in orange. Also in terms of acoustics, id. The XTREME has something special to offer: the driving sounds have been developed together with the Volkswagen design department especially for this model.
Will the field electrician ever go into production? At the moment it is difficult to conclude. Silke Bagschik – the head of the MEB product line – claims, however, that the reaction of the fans will determine the future of the concept. So everything is possible.
