Volkswagen launches new brand: ID.UX

Chinese car brands are flooding Europe, but Germany’s Volkswagen is doing the opposite. The car manufacturer from Wolfsburg is launching a new brand on the Chinese market with ID.UX.

Over the years, many European and American companies were able to sell many cars in China. Many successful Chinese fell for the luxury and status of European cars. In addition, the cars made at home were of poor quality. However, times have changed. The Chinese are now making high quality cars and are producing a lot of electric cars. Chinese cars are quickly gaining a large share of the market in Europe.

Volkswagen still has a strong hold on the European market, but in China they have long been forced to give power to other manufacturers such as BYD. So the German manufacturer comes up with a new implementation plan.

Designed for the youth of China

VW CEO Oliver Blume announced the offensive. At least sixteen new electric vehicles will be developed and launched in the next six years, mainly aimed at the Chinese market. Five of these will be launched under the brand name ID.UX, mainly targeting Chinese youth.

Key features are the integration of Chinese social media software and voice control. Something that VW hasn’t done well so far. More than once, the company’s software failed. One new ID.UX design was already shown at the main presentation, a compact SUV.
