The world’s best-selling electric car Tesla Model Y is now also available in Germany in a high-range version only with rear-wheel drive, offering a range of up to 600 km (WLTP).

The “new” Model Y costs 48,990 euros and is positioned by Tesla between the rear-wheel drive version for 44,990 euros and the two more expensive variants with all-wheel drive for 54,990 euros and the Performance with all-wheel drive for 59,990 euros. Of all Model Ys, the new version offers a range of more than 600 km, the other versions have 455 km (RWD), 533 km (Long Range AWD) and 514 km (Performance AWD) and therefore for the best of 67 km below.

According to information on Tesla’s website, the new Model Y can be ordered now and is expected to be delivered to buyers in two to four weeks.

The version was previously available in the United States

However, the up to 600 km range is new in Germany and Europe and was previously available in other countries such as the US, although Tesla no longer offers it there. In the United States, only three types previously released in this country are currently available to choose from.

Aside from the new combination of a larger battery and rear-wheel drive only, the updated Model Y is identical to the previous configuration. Extras such as white paint costs 1,300 euros or 2,600 euros, 20-inch rims are 2,200 euros and a white interior costs 1,200 euros. Tesla charges 3,800 euros for Enhanced Autopilot and “Full Autopilot Capability” costs 7,500 euros.

The Model Y still doesn’t offer new features from the Model 3

The changes that Tesla introduced to the new Model 3 aka Highland last season are still not included in the Model Y. There, the new headlights, taillights and apron make the new version look stylish. Tesla also explained at the launch that the higher range was achieved due to the updated exterior design and improved aerodynamics.

The new interior features adjustable interior lighting and, like the Model S, there are ventilated front seats that can be pre-cooled using a smartphone. At the back, a new 8-inch screen is used for climate and entertainment. Two phones can be charged simultaneously in the front charging cradle. 360-degree acoustic glazing should also ensure a quiet interior. However, the indicator levers are omitted; instead there are two left buttons on the steering wheel, which has also been slightly modified.
