No Chinese car company exports as many cars as Chery – but not in Europe. That should change next year: the car manufacturer also wants to conquer the German market with three products, at least six models and a large selection of drives.

The next Chinese car manufacturer is heading to Germany: Chery also wants to sell its cars in this country from 2024. The company is no stranger. It has been building cars since 1997 and claims to have already exported more than any other Chinese manufacturer – except Europe.

Chery wants to change that with three brands and initially at least six models, said chief strategy officer Zhu Shaodong. He also promised a variety of drive technologies: While most Chinese car companies rely exclusively on electric models, the Wuhu-based manufacturer also plans combustion engines and plug-in hybrids.

Omoda and Jaecoo also come with combustion engines

It is expected to start this spring with the design-oriented Omoda brand, which is being launched with a 4.40 meter long SUV called the Omoda 5. Depending on the manufacturer, this comes with a 132 kW/180 hp turbo petrol engine or, a little later, like an electric car. This is available with 100 kW/136 HP or 150 kW/204 HP and battery (48 or 64 kWh) for a standard expected range of 440 km.

The second model planned is the larger Omoda 7 – also an SUV, which will only be available as a combustion engine and hybrid.

Along with Omoda, Chery creates the Jaecoo brand, which has rustic and smart designs in its portfolio. They use the same platforms, but come with different storage configurations such as plug-in hybrids. Like those of Omoda, Jaecoo models are in the short and medium range and have 7 and 8 abbreviations.

Exlantix as a pure electronic brand

The premium electronics brand Exlantix is scheduled to launch in late 2024 or early 2025, competing with brands such as Nio & Co.

For them previously there is an E03 sedan and an SUV called E0Y in the five-meter class with 800-volt fast charging technology and 80 kWh batteries for a range of more than 600 kilometers.
