Volvo Financial Services is investing in financial education programs for young people through a partnership with JA Worldwide

GREENSBORO, NC, March 2 /PRNewswire/ —

Volvo Financial Services (VFS) has announced today that it is investing in financial education for young people in nine countries through an international partnership with Junior Achievement Worldwide. Through this partnership, VFS volunteers will work with YES educators to equip the next generation with the financial skills and knowledge needed to be successful and independent in the future. Individual programs in nine countries begin this month.

“Today’s youth are tomorrow’s leaders and we want to do our part to ensure they have the skills needed to make financial decisions as adults,” said VFS President Marcio Pedroso. “We are proud to partner with JA to combine our financial expertise with their educational expertise to help improve the lives of children around the world.

VFS volunteers will work with JA educators in Brazil, France, India, Italy, Peru, South Africa, Spain, England and the United States in the communities where VFS staff live and work. Together they will teach young people a variety of important financial skills, including setting personal financial goals, creating a savings plan and better household management. Participating youth will also have the opportunity to learn first-hand about employment in the transportation and logistics industry served by VFS.

The investment is fully in line with Volvo Group’s overall sustainability goals, which include a commitment to all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. Promoting good financial literacy will have a positive impact on several SDGs, including ending poverty, promoting quality education and empowering women and girls.

“We are grateful to partners like Volvo Financial Services who share our mission and take responsibility to ensure that more young people get the quality learning experiences they need and deserve,” said Asheesh Advani, CEO of JA Worldwide. “By giving young people access to financial literacy, we can help them prepare for a better financial future.”
