Volvo achieves record monthly sales for electric and electric vehicles


Volvo record sales of electric cars in the world (BEV) in March 2024, an increase of 43% compared to March 2023. This increase is certainly attributed to the launch of a new fully integrated electric SUV. EX30. The total sales of electric vehicles (BEV and PHEV) is increased by 24% compared to last yearwho represents 42% of all Volvos sold in the world.

In Europe, BEVs increased by 66% year-on-year, with 8,995 units sold, with electric vehicles accounting for 63% of Volvo’s total sales on the continent. In the US, electric vehicles grew 25%, but BEVs were down 66% compared to March 2023, ahead of the launch of the EX30 expected this summer. Sales of electric vehicles in China decreased by 28% compared to last year.

Looking at the first quarter of 2024, global BEV sales increased by 27% compared to the same period in 2023. However, declines were recorded in China (-28%) and the United States (-65%)while in Europe there was an increase of 48%.

Volvo remains confident and aims to achieve significant growth in the electric vehicle market 50% of total sales with electric models by 2025planning to sell only electric cars from 2030. Björn Annwall, commercial director and deputy managing director of Volvo Cars, says that “in the coming months we will focus on increasing sales of our EX30“.
