Peugeot E-3008: The French fight for success

(aum/mue) – Not everything that looks like a coupe is one. The new E-3008 electric SUV from Peugeot is coming to the market with a coupé-like roofline, but despite the shape, Peugeot designers explain, the brand’s latest model is not an SUV coupé.

Instead, the designers describe the electric-powered 3008 as a “quick-return SUV” because the roofline bends slightly later than on a regular coupe, which also benefits the rear passenger compartments. Thanks to the new STLA Group platform, which is used for the first time in the model, the electric 3008 should enable a range of up to 700 km, depending on the version.

First of all, the new one with 210 hp (157 kW) will be available at dealers from the end of May and is expected to travel 524 km on a single charge from the 73 kWh battery. A variant with a range of 700 km and a 230 hp (170 kW) drivetrain will be available later this summer. This also applies to the top model in the series with two engines and all-wheel drive (320 hp/240 kW).

As soon as it moves, the E-3008 shows its interesting side: thanks to the torque of 345 Newton meters, the fast SUV is growing rapidly and is one of the preserved representatives of its kind. Wind noise is only noticeable above 130 kilometers per hour, but not annoying. The chassis is built strong, but saves the occupants from the lack of infrastructure, and the seats offer good lateral support.
