Subaru unveils electric off-road vehicle – ecomento.de

At the Japan Mobility Show, Subaru presented, among other things, the Sport Mobility Concept: an electric sports hybrid for off-road use. The angular, muscular two-door model creates a sense of excitement and unlimited driving pleasure even when stationary – “in the tradition of Subaru sports models,” according to the Japanese.

It remains to be seen whether the research provides insight into production design or a new language for brand design. Subaru did not provide any technical details about the car’s technology. All that was announced was that it was a full electric car with all-wheel drive – according to the wording in the press release, probably with four electric motors.

“This concept model reflects the fun that Subaru offers in the electric age, encompassing the joy of going anywhere anytime and driving with passion in an everyday environment,” it said. The driver sits down in the center seat, which provides “excellent visibility and perspective” and enables “pleasant and relaxed driving”.

Subaru officially revised its electric car goals upward in August. The Japanese automaker now aims to sell 600,000 battery-electric vehicles by 2030. Fully electric vehicles should account for 50 percent of the brand’s global sales.

The manufacturer’s only electric vehicle to date, the SUV Solterra, which operates on a shared platform with Toyota, will be followed by seven other battery-powered vehicles from Subaru. Three of these are scheduled to be delivered by the end of 2026 and four more in 2028. By the end of 2028, a total of eight electric vehicles will be produced.

“At Subaru, we want to live in the electrified era by being agile,” new CEO Atsushi Osaki said in March. Before becoming CEO, he led Subaru’s global production. “We will introduce different systems, focusing on flexibility and expansion.”
