SALISBURY – Three Guilford County men were arrested Sunday after deputies say they fled a traffic stop before being stopped and found to have multiple loaded guns in a car.

The incident began at about 2:19 a.m. when a deputy saw a red Chrysler speeding on the northbound side of Interstate 85, said Capt. Mark McDaniel, spokesman for the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. The deputy reportedly got into the back of the car and drove it at about 110 mph before trying to stop it near the Julian Road exit.

McDaniel said the Chrysler driver failed to stop, continuing north on I-85 at the same speed before turning onto Jake Alexander Boulevard. The Chrysler then allegedly ran through a red light before backing into the median and accelerating to approximately 120 mph. The driver of the car also turned off his exterior lights after returning to I-85 and began to make an errant lane change, according to McDaniel.

Eventually, the Chrysler stopped after another deputy who joined the chase put his car in front of him in a way that forced him to slow down, McDaniel said. It is said that the deputies detained all three people in the car and searched it.

Two loaded handguns, a Glock 32 and a Smith and Wesson M&P .40 caliber, were reportedly found in the glovebox and another loaded handgun, a Glock 19, was reportedly found under the back seat. Both the Glock 32 and the Smith and Wesson had rounds in the chamber, said McDaniel.

Jordan Marqwez Gibson, a 24-year-old Browns Summit resident, was identified as the driver and charged with felony fleeing to elude and reckless driving. Gibson was booked into the Rowan County Detention Center and given a $25,000 bond by Judge Jeff Morris.

Jamerius Damaja Hayes, a 25-year-old resident of Greensboro, and Jamil Tahjai Moore, a 23-year-old resident of Greensboro, were charged with felony carrying a concealed firearm because the firearms were found in the area where they were sitting. Hayes and Moore were both released on written promises to appear by Morris.
