Modern, fast and environmentally friendly – this is how you can briefly describe the latest MINI Cooper SE model that we have had the opportunity to test in recent weeks. See how the electric car worked in the city.

Navigating the city jungle by car can be challenging. Limited parking spaces, daytime traffic and queues at gas stations keep many drivers awake at night. However, if, like me, you cannot imagine your life without a car, it is worth choosing a car that will not only increase the time spent on the road, but also provide enough comfort and fun to drive.

Thanks to MINI, I was able to test the latest car model in winter conditions in different parts of Poland. In an electric, fast car, I had the opportunity to visit the most interesting architectural gems of the Tri-City, as well as check out the mobility and driving dynamics in crowded Warsaw and Łódź.

MINI Cooper SE: Design and technology

The MINI Cooper SE is the first electric model from the British premium brand. The first show? The characteristic retro design and unique multitone roof attract attention. The amazing gradient effect was achieved by the MINI factory in Oxford thanks to a new painting technique. From San Marino Blue to Pearly Aqua to Jet Black, the color scheme extends from the windshield frame to the rear.

Before I get inside, I can’t resist taking a closer look at the car. The unique MINI logo leaves no doubt that despite its compact appearance, the car is modern and built for city driving. The subtle gradient of the side skirts perfectly complements the style of the roof. Glossy Piano Black exterior elements, black mirrors and 17-inch wheels emphasize the sporty and modern look of the model. The round headlights and kidney grille found on the previous version of the car were further emphasized in this version.

The exterior of the car made my heart skip a beat, and how did the interior fare? Although I am very tall, getting in and out is not a problem, because even in the three-door version, the car has enough space inside. The MINI Electric logo stands out on the Nappa leather steering wheel. Are you cold? A steering wheel heater is available as an optional extra for extra driving comfort on winter days. The sports seats are made of a combination of fabric and ecological leather of Light Gray. They are comfortable, provide sufficient stability of the spine, and their replacement takes only a short time. Interior upgrades can be seen in details such as the MINI logo printed on the door sill panels and the anthracite colored headliner.

MINI Cooper SE: Spirit of the city

After starting the car, I can’t help but feel the quiet silence that makes me double check to make sure I pressed the start button. The absence of the usual noise that accompanies a car with a combustion engine is an argument that speaks in favor of the new MINI. In addition, the high-power lithium-ion battery located on the floor of the car allows a distance of 203 to 234 kilometers. In winter, especially when the temperature is below freezing, there are limitations with the short type of the car.

The fun of driving without emissions, free parking in Poland’s biggest cities and the increasing number of fast charging stations for electric cars – these are just some of the interesting experiences that I could discover while testing the MINI Cooper model. SE in Island Blue. shadow

And how does the car perform on crowded streets and roads? The specific tuning of the suspension components and the low center of gravity help the MINI Cooper SE to achieve the brand’s agility that can be felt in tight turns. Driving the S8 in the evening allows you to check the car’s speed (just press the pedal gently to make the MINI go forward like a racing car) and familiarize yourself with the new departure warning system. The vibration of the steering wheel alerts the driver to the risk of unintentionally changing lanes, thanks to which we still have full control of the environment. The new Driving Assistant package also includes cruise control. Fans of the premium brand can use the Stop & Go function for the first time – the system can break the MINI Cooper SE to a stop if needed. All you need to do is press the gas pedal lightly to start moving again and continue driving with automatic speed and distance control. The solution works well during rush hours in Warsaw.

Getting around an unfamiliar city is also not a problem. All thanks to the Connected Navigation package. With one click, I send all the places to visit in the Trinity City by car. In turn, the Head-Up Display, located at the height of the steering wheel, allows you to stay focused while driving and control the vehicle’s path and speed at all times. What else will you find in the expanded version of Integrated Navigation? Phone system with wireless charging, concierge services and MINI Connected XL.

MINI Cooper SE is more than a stylish car. It is a model in which perfect design meets new technology, and driving pleasure in a balanced way.
